They definitely worth more than their price. This is a mid forward IEM with moderate extension in bass and highs. Great for acoustic, folk, cellos and some classical music. The bass is surprisingly punchy with focus on mid bass, they can easily play 20Hz but the whole sub bass region is tuned to be tamed, mid and high bass is forward and very pleasing. It is super fast, with less body - very detailed and fun. Mids are simply amazing - great details and quality. Highs are not very extended, especially in the air part but still very present and never sibilant. They respond well to EQ and can definitely satisfy when you U shape them. You can hear that the manufacturer is using a high quality BA drivers, but they are tuned in a very unique way. I don’t understand how the manufacturer could manage such a low price with the quality of the BA drivers they use. I AB them with some 1K IEMs and they surprisingly did 70-90% of the sound quality. I liked them more from iPhone comparing to HiBy R6 pro, the sound was more coherent and fun. I absolutely love the SQ of the stock cable, there is no need to upgrade it. The tips are also very good and tip rolling didn’t help to improve the SQ. They isolate very good and they are very small, you can potentially sleep with them. They are an absolute bargain for the price and if you can live with using the EQ to shape the sound to your liking you will definitely love them. The MMCX connectors are of high quality, the IEM shells may not the best quality and people reported breaking them and I think they wouldn’t have broken the shells if they paid a proper price, they would treat them better. Given their price and sound quality is an absolute sin to rate them lower then 5 stars.

I also own a well worn pair of UE Triple Fi 10s and brand new Fiio FA7s. Both have 3+balanced armature drivers, and the Fiios have a comparable set of 4. I find I like these as much as the Triple Fis, but not quite as much as the Fiios, but given that the Fiio set costs 2x, that's understandable.The packaging was a mystery to open, but after tearing the outer sleeve, the box opened to a nice presentation. The Fiio is nicer, but they really take presentation to the next level. The Fiios are way more impressive as a gift for this and the next reason. Once opened, you see the IEMs themselves, and they are lackluster. The overall look is very mediocre. Simply put these look even worse than the 12 year old (and very plastic) Triple Fis and much much cheaper than the Fiio FA7. They really look like $60 or less IEMs. The case is great (much more usable than what Fiio or UE offers) however. It can fit my Fiio BTR3 Bluetooth dac/amp in there).The sound however is amazing. I haven't reached the divine levels of the FA7, but they sound better than any other IEMs I've heard, and they sound like $250+ IEMs. Considering that with a coupon I paid half that here, the compromises with a lackluster appearance is OK. The sound is legit, and I think with better fitting tips (the included selection also is a bit lacking vs Fiio) that the sound will improve. Fit is OK, but not great, and they take more work to get into my ears just right. Tips and cables should be easy to find/upgrade as needed.All in all, these are my daily drivers. The Fiios sound better, but since they look so expensive, I'm more inclined to fear them getting stolen. I guess the lackluster look make these a bit of a sleeper!Anyway, 5+ star sound for the price. 3 star build. A great compromise, but it's a compromise. Come with the right expectations, and you'll get a great sounding set of earbuds. Not too bassy, not not weak. No overly pronounced sound signature in any way.

My first experience with Brainwavz was a few years back when I read a glowing review about their Delta earbuds, a product considered by some to be the best sounding earphones under $50. The Delta, with its combination of well thought out features and generous accessory package, all for about $25, represents their strategy of providing a lot for a little.The B200 Dual Balanced Armature IEM ($120), which came out in 2017, and the B400 Quad Balanced Armature IEM which came out last year at $200, follow a similar value/price proposition, albeit at higher price points with different driver tech. The B400, like the Delta, comes with a nice accessory package, along with good sound and features for the price, but at a whole other (higher, of course) level of performance.Build/Features:The B400 is a pro-style IEM, which as its name implies, has four Balanced Armature drivers within each earpiece. The earpieces have 3D printed translucent housings with standard MMCX connectors. This means cables are replaceable, and there are in fact two 1.3m cables that come standard in the box. One has an inline remote with a mic plus volume and track controls, and the other is a straight cable with a 45-degree angle plug at the end.The remote worked flawlessly with my LGV40, but I did have a bugaboo with the buttons, which were so narrow that it was hard to press them. However, once pressed they felt very solid and responsive, and the metal housing of the remote looked very slick and polished.Overall, both cables are of good quality, with nice flex, and a sturdy black jacket running the length of them. Both cables have pre-formed tubes slipped over the wire on the earphone side, which hooks over the ears comfortably and keeps the IEMs securely in place. Brainwavz also has upgrade cables available on their website.The B400 has a very simple clean look, and comes in six translucent colors including the Aqua color I have. I like the minimalist look and the earpieces are quite small considering the amount of drivers inside. The combination of their smooth exterior and what Brainwavz calls the “ergonomic shape” makes them extremely comfortable. I wore them for hours with very minimal discomfort.As mentioned earlier, they come with a pretty nice accessory package which includes the standard S,M,L silicone ear tips, some Comply T-100 foam tips, a mic/remote cable, the straight cable, a nice black/red zip up hard case which is something of a signature for Brainwavz, plus two velcro cable wraps, and a shirt clip. I was impressed by the quality of all the accessories.Noise isolation is very good, especially since they don’t fit very deep, which is another testament to the ergonomics of the earpieces. They are also very easy to drive, sounding great with my LG V40 phone. However, I actually thought they sounded even better with some good amplification, responding favorably to the output from the iFi xDSD headphone amp/DAC.Sound:All my sound tests were done with TIDAL Hi-Fi, streaming from the LG V40 phone, and from the HP ENVY x360 laptop connected to a iFi xDSD headphone amp/DAC. The xBass and 3D+ sound enhancements were turned off on the xDSD.So when you talk about having four balanced armatures in an IEM, of course you have some high expectations regarding the sound. While it sounds like a slam dunk to have all those separate drivers handling the different parts of the audio spectrum, it’s actually difficult to properly blend the sound coming from all those little tiny speakers in such a small space. That being said, Brainwavz has done a great job with the tuning on these earphones. I gravitate towards warm headphones, and the B400 fall within that category.They are mid-centric, with a tad bit of rolloff at both extremes of the audioband, which gives them a very smooth, easygoing sound. I’m very sensitive to bright earphones, so I actually liked this sound signature. This doesn’t mean there is a lack of detail, there is plenty of detail here from top to bottom, especially in the mids, but there is also nice detail in the presence region which keeps the sound clear up top. However, if you like a lot of extra sparkle at the top end, or extreme bass you should probably listen to these before you buy.I personally like headphone/earphones that get the mids right since that is where a good part of the musical information is, and these definitely do that. Vocals are awesome, sounding very delicate and transparent. When I listened to Luciana Souza’s “Down To You” from her album The New Bossa Nova, her vocals were crisp without any harshness, and I also loved how the strings were reproduced with tons of vibrancy.Live recordings also really shine on these earphones. The multiple drivers layer sounds so well, creating a wide and deep soundstage that made me feel like I was in the room when I listened to “How Deep Is Your Love” from PJ Morton’s Gumbo Unplugged. Excellent sounding; definitely great value. Sound signature is definitely a bit warmer than I generally prefer, but it's really well done, so I ended up rather enjoying these despite my preference for cooler-sounding earphones. While build quality might not look impressive, it's overall very sturdy, and I found these to be surprisingly comfortable - definitely above average. The finishing on the casing was done nicely - very smooth, and no sharp or rough edges.

Terrific sound: crystal clarity throughout the entire spectrum, marginally warmer signature w a tight bass which thankfully is never overwhelming. At $199, they are a great deal; the only time i've heard comparable in-ear performance was from $500+ earbuds. Great product!

Amazing subbass, great soundstage.

This is an excellent pair of headsets been using it for more than 8 months and I must say these are far better than some of the more expensive Shure and other products out there.

All I'm going to say is that these are the most clear, crisp, amazing earbuds I have ever owned. Sound quality is on another level. Don't buy if you want extremely bass-heavy earbuds. Bass is still very good however, especially for EDM.

I have close to 20 IEMs and in-ear headphones that were purchased in the range of $10 to $200. After several days of heavy listening to a variety of musical styles and doing many A-B comparisons, the Brainwavz B400 is superior both in terms of sound quality and listening enjoyment. I find it hard to believe that the 4 balanced armatures in each IEM can produce such a punchy and rich sound. As many other reviews have noticed, their warmth sounds more like dynamic drivers. Yet they still have much of the clarity and detail of other BA IEMs. They are fairly neutral and balanced across the spectrum producing a smoothness to vocals and other mid-range instruments. They respond very well to EQ and provide an excellent sound stage for a sub $200 IEM. Without a doubt these sound far better than some of the more expensive Shure and Westone products out there. They provide fairly good sound isolation as well and are comfortable enough to wear for hours. My only complaint would be the cheap cable provided out of the box. I have already ordered an upgraded MMCX cable ($20) that better suits a higher end product.Overall, these are really fantastic. The bass is strong and can actually be felt a louder volumes. Perhaps not at bass-head levels, but for those looking for a faithful reproduction of recorded music it is more than plenty. The mids are silky smooth and not too far back to be appreciated. The highs are clear, detailed, and energetic. But never sibilant or harsh to my sensitive ears. Kudos to the Brainwavz team for a wonderful IEM. Much appreciated.
