Sometimes headphone manufacturers don't half make things difficult when it comes to replacement pads. Many a time they will make the method of mounting the pads so specific and proprietary that using any third party alternatives seems impossible, this is even more frustrating if the company don't even make replacements at all, or worse, if the stock pads are just horrible to start with.
Not to worry, because this is where 3D printing comes in to play. With the advent of easier design software, home 3D printing machines, and, of course, enthusiastic headphone lovers, its now possible to make your own adapters and do what the manufacturers can't / don't want to do.
Where can we find these miracle adapters?
There are several places to find adapters, from 3D depositories to small online stores that design and sell direct. We have listed a few below, plus get searching, Google, & Reddit are a good start.
-
Thingiverse - One of the largest online for 3D models, get 3D models for free and print at home on your own printer - Visit Thingiverse
-
modhouseaudio - An audiophile store with a few custom made adapters for some popular headphones, and no need for your own printer - Visit ModHouse
-
socas3d -Dedicated store to 3D printed adapters, mainly for the Stax line of headphones, but also several others too. No need for for your own printer - Visit SoCas
But.. I don't have a 3D printer
Well, as you can see above there are online stores that design, print and send out the adapters.
You can also send in the free 3D models from Thingiverse to 3D printing websites that will take your model, print it and send it out to you - for a small fee, have a Google to find one in your local area / country.
This is one based in the UK https://makeitquick.co.uk/, but there will be ones more local, or, just ask around, 3D printers are so popular now odds are a mate of mate will have one.
